Quality

To ensure the quality of our schools, we carefully consider the conditions we can create for this. This includes:

Ambitions

All Portus schools meet the basic quality standards according to the Secondary Education Inspection Framework of the Inspectorate of Education. In addition, each school has its own ‘mission’ that makes the school distinctive. In annual and four-year plans, the schools describe their ambitions. These school plans can be found on the schools’ websites.

Exchange

The general management of the Portus school group operates based on trust. This means that we give our strong schools every opportunity to develop. Providing space does not mean letting go. The school management teams meet regularly, in various forms, to discuss what matters most to us: education. In addition, we are aware that the real difference is made in the classroom. That is why we organize as many opportunities as possible for teachers to engage in dialogue with each other. Furthermore, the general management holds a results meeting with the school management teams four times a year. During these meetings, the school leadership presents the progress and development of the school based on the school plan. This quality assurance keeps the schools sharp, and we learn from each other.

Students

Students are seen and heard. Every school has a student council, and a student participates in the participation council. Students also take part in satisfaction surveys every year. The opinion of the student counts. We try to listen to them carefully, and their feedback is incorporated into our school development.

Parents

Parents play an indispensable role at school. The importance of the parent-student-school triangle is recognized at all Portus schools. To ask parents about their experiences, parent circles have been formed and satisfaction surveys are conducted. In addition, parents are part of the participation council.

Support

Student support is an important part of the Portus school group. Our goal is to provide a safe place to learn, develop, and earn a diploma. We create a powerful and motivating learning environment and opportunities for children who need something extra. The support is therefore focused on undertaking activities and creating conditions so that students, both individually and in groups, can make the most of what the school has to offer. By student support, we mean both pedagogical-didactic and social-emotional guidance.

At school, we work as preventively as possible because our teachers are close to the students. Students who structurally need education at a different level than their age group receive appropriate education and guidance. You can read more about the implementation of the Inclusive Education policy on the website of our KoersVO Partnership.
