Charting your course together, back to school
De Binnenhaven is a facility of the Portus school group and provides education and support to students who are at home or at risk of dropping out of education.
We focus on students aged 12 to 18 within the KoersVO partnership, who are dealing with internalizing problems. De Binnenhaven is a small-scale, safe learning environment where students work on sustainable recovery of their educational process and on a successful return to school.
Our approach
Registration always takes place through the support coordinator of the current school. Together, we assess whether De Binnenhaven is the most suitable place for the student. If placement is agreed upon, a symbiosis agreement is drawn up and the student remains enrolled at the original school.
After registration, an intake interview is held with the student, parents, and the support coordinator. Together, we create an action plan that meets the needs of the student. If the intake shows that our offer is appropriate, we aim for a quick start. The goal is for the student to return to the original school within six to nine months.
Education & care
At De Binnenhaven, we combine education and care. Throughout the program, we work closely with parents, the home school, and any involved support services. In addition, we offer group training in collaboration with Enver.
For each student, we use an individual development plan. In the first phase, the focus is on building up at De Binnenhaven, regaining trust, and restoring daily structure. When there is sufficient stability, we develop a reintegration program that allows the student to gradually return to their own school.
Personalized education
We want to prevent students from falling through the cracks. That is why customization is central to our approach.
The capacity of each student is carefully assessed. Based on this, we tailor the education and guidance, ensuring that every pathway is realistic and achievable.
For whom?
De Binnenhaven is there for students who, for example, may have:
- (Characteristics of) an autism spectrum disorder (ASD)
- ADHD
- Anxiety complaints
- Panic complaints
- Psychosomatic complaints
- Depressive complaints
- Impactful events and/or trauma-related complaints
- Systemic problems
