Mission, vision and identity
Portus schools are part of a dynamic group of schools. Each school follows its own course, but they share the same views on a number of matters. In everything we do, we use one central guiding question: How does this benefit the student? The elaboration of this question is expressed in the vision and mission of the Portus group of schools, briefly outlined below.
Mission
Portus means harbor. A harbor is a sheltered place where ships from all over the world can dock to refuel and stock up on new supplies.
Portus wants to be such a harbor for its students and staff. A pleasant, safe place where everyone can be themselves. Where there is attention for your personal story and where you meet others to share stories with. This way, you discover that everyone is different and has a story worth listening to.
Portus wants to be a harbor where you can gain new knowledge, skills, and experiences. A place where you are given space and support to grow together, make mistakes, and learn from them. We offer you a stimulating learning environment and challenge you to further develop the best within yourself.
Above all, Portus wants to be a harbor where you can stock up on the supplies you need to chart your own course in life. So that you can set sail with confidence: out into the wide world.
Vision
We are a group of schools where everyone feels safe and welcome. Our doors are always open, and we provide an environment where students and staff can develop themselves without fear or reservation.
Guided by the question "How does this benefit the student?" we strive for the highest achievable for everyone, while keeping the threshold low. Ambition and accessibility go hand in hand with us, so that all students and staff can reach their full potential.
Everyone within our community takes responsibility: for themselves, for each other, and for our shared goals. We believe that involvement and ownership form the foundation for growth and success.
Our approach is positive and based on trust. We see the best in people and encourage them to see it in themselves and others as well. Through this positive attitude, we create a learning and working environment in which everyone can excel.
Together, we are building a future that everyone can be proud of.
Identity
We are inspired in our thoughts and actions by the values of the Christian faith. Everyone is welcome.
We see diversity as a strength, meeting one another with curiosity and respect for our fellow human beings, and caring for each other.
From our passion for education and our love for students, we ensure that they can develop in a safe environment. They are allowed to make mistakes and, from their own sense of responsibility, start again so that they can enter the world with confidence.
